Keep Laughin' Buddy!

Drew and I quietly enjoyed the serenity of these facinating creatures in their natural state, very Jane Goodall-style. We whispered excited comments back and forth, and "took only photographs and left only footprints" like good little hikers. All was chill on Mino Mountain; the monkeys were content with our presence and continued picking at one another's fur, nursing their babies, and lethargically sun bathing.

Till this Hyundai (er, whatever) with two loud Japanese tourists came careening around the corner (monkeys in the road, speed racer!) They then proceeded to crack their window a half inch and taunt OUR monkeys with baguettes. Now, I firmly believe that monkeys are not suppose to eat baguettes, wear berets, or adopt any French life-style monikers other than organ-grinding. But there is no stopping a crazy Japanese tourist in a Hyundai (er, whatever).

About 30 or so monkeys made their way out of the woodwork, and everyday monkey-business became regular monkey mayhem!

A second car approached in the opposite lane, and suddenly Drew and I realized that we were two kids without cars, boxed in by idiots, and surrounded by jumping-biting-scratching-wild animals. A lot of them.

Mo,
I am surprised at your reaction. I would think that monkeys would be no big deal after growing up with Sean...
