...The Usual Suspects...

I had to write a final speech for my Japanese Language classes in which I summarized my stay in Japan. One of the highlights of the speech is when I talk about how I have formed "kazoku no communication" with Megu. After hearing me say that Megu and I had a long talk about how much we mean to one another. She told me about how sometimes she felt like I was her older sister, and how we would remain international sisters despite our imminent geographic distance. Since then Megu has taken to calling me "onesan" pronounced, "o-neh-san" which means "older sister," and I call her "imoto" pronounced "ee-mo-to" which means "little sister."

I never would have expected that I could grow so close to a roommate with whom I share no common superficial interests - but I suppose that's what makes such interests superficial. They don't determine the nature of your character, or the silly little things that make you laugh. I have so little in common with my family sometimes - I swear they are all crazy - but I love them all the same.
