*kiss my cute little Fanny*
Here are the first (of what shall inevitably prove to be many) pictures of my new friend, family member, and (since she'll probably be with me for some time) life-partner :)
This 3 year-old Spotted Tabby came home with me from the humane society on June 24th. Compared to the tiny cage she was living in for one month, my tiny 400 sq ft apartment must seem like a castle.
She was found by animal services sick, covered in parasites, and alone in a field in Yelm. She was already fixed though, which means that she is probably someone else's lost pet. After over a month in animal services custody, she became someone else's loss - and my gain!
Even though she is a fully grown cat, since her previous life is a mystery, I got the opportunity to name her myself. When the vet was handling her for the first time they remarked to me "Oh no, there has been a mistake! This cat is far too large to be a female, she must be neutered male whose cage was mis-labeled." My heart sunk! I had taken almost 2 hours picking out the perfect cat - and my apartment complex only allows female cats. But sure enough, when we flipped her onto her back it was clear, she is all woman. And a big woman at that! So, in honor of her big behind, my cat has been named - Fanny.
Fanny's spots are located directly atop her head and back, which appear to me like a little old lady's hat and coat, so the name Fanny is just all the more fitting.
Already, I love Fanny very much and we are exceptionally happy together. She is probably the most demanding roommate I've ever had (Dharma may have been messy, but I NEVER had to clean up her poo) but somehow it all seems worthwhile when after I've had a long night at work and Trail is far away, Fanny crawls contently up on my chest and purrs in relaxing pleasure. Welcome to the family, Fanny!
