The dance fesitv with Kanako in Osaka

Posted by Hello Continuing the weekend's theme of 'dance' I went to see six of the area's universities present a dance festival. The show was a magnificent movement of modern dance.
Dad, you would have been really impressed with the lighting and costumes - from a technical standpoint this presentation was far beyond my expectations for a college festival. There were a few moments where the lightening was emotionally inspiring and took the piece to a place it would not have been otherwise. Bravo! Techies never get first credit, but here their outstanding artistry deserved it!
The dancing itself varied from school to school, though I enjoyed the diversity of works. Each piece was obviously a different choreographer with it's own attitude and personality. Mukogawa made me proud with an energetic jazz-inspired piece.
Another piece (Kobe maybe?) was just perfect from start to finished. It had the clear theme of a young woman rejecting marriage and the dancers executed every move with utmost grace, power and precision. At the end of this piece I was left with chills.
I felt completely understood as the dancers used their art to speaks to the audiences souls. I had never realized how much can be communicated across cultures, languages, worlds, with the same human body. Beautiful! Just beautiful!
