best day of my life
absolutely nothing spectacular or miraculous happened today...
i went to school, had an unexpected free period (fell asleep for 20 minutes while studying in the computer lab!) then aced my language classes with ease. ..
ate a simple lunch with two sweet girls who I don't know too well, but are really interested in improving their language and spending time with an American - per usual...
went to IEO for some funny conversation and informal education...
had french fries and ice cream for dinner with aki, one of my best girlfriends, (i know - isn't that meal just awful? i swear, i usually eat much healthier!) then walked along the railroad tracks, discussing the importance of living life to it's fullest...
barefoot (breaking the most cardinal of japanese social dictates, but i just had to feel the ground below me) walked home down dark humming neighborhood streets...
singing my way through the door to our shared room, megs just had to ask me, "why are you so happy, mo? did something special happen today?" looking her straight in the eye, with the coy expression that lets her know i'm about to say something unusual...
"there is no reason megs. no reason other than that, i have two legs to run with, healthy lungs to breath with, a heart that beats, a mind that thinks, a voice that sings, and two ears to hear with." her lip tilted upwards to the left in a demure smile, and eyes narrowing in delight.
"absolutely nothing spectacular or miraculous happened today megs, but this may as well be the happiest day of my life. i don't need toys, money, boys, beer, clothing, books, anything like that, to make me happy... and that realization alone, is what makes me so happy."
her smile broke out fully. i extended her a hug.
"i'm glad you are happy mo. i think i am happy too."
certainly, i think that qualifies as the best day anyone could ask for.

and it always helps to know, a kindred sister out there somewhere, has got my back!
It actually sounds like a pretty good day. One I would like to be able to share with you. And thanks to your blog, I have, kinda. Talk later, maybe by phone this weekend. Ky is having a birthday party this weekend. A house full of 6-7 year old girls, picture that.
Keep well, baba.
Dad
