Karaoke is Osaka with Minami, Mami, Don, and Yuko!

Posted by HelloSaturday I went to Osaka with Minami, Don and Yuko. We had been planning to go dancing for some time now, but then the girls couldn't manage to stay overnight in Osaka so we all went to Karaoke together. I sang 'criminal' by Fiona Apple but sounded very little like a seductress... After a great night of singing Mami and I bid farewell to the girls and went to find some night life.
A friend of mine from campus had given me the inside tip on a bar that was supposedly THE hangout for foreigners in the Osaka area. I was really excited to go dancing (it's been too long!) and spending time with Mami is always the best. Well, after paying 700yen for a beer (can you believe it?!? That's more than 7 US freakin dollars!) I began to wish maybe we had chosen a different night spot. This bar, 'Sam and Dave's' looked really awesome on the website, but proved to be the wrong vibe in person. Sure it was loaded with foreigners - but only foreign men! I was the only non-Asian woman for most of the night... I really wasn't in the mood to stand out like a sore thumb anymore, but I hung in there, and after no time at all forgot about my sore-thumb status.
It was great to dance with Mami, and just letting my body move to the music was like medicine for my ailing 'wild side' (which has grown weak and powerless under the strict regulations of dormitory curfews at an all-womens university!
For a little bit I felt like I could have been back dancing at any party in the states, which proved to be a bit of much needed nostalgia and familiarity. Thanks again Beans, I love your hometown! (but what the heck is with that cat?)

Momo-
I forgot to explain about THE cat appearing brightly, smiling from the top of a business building in Osaka!! Well, we Japanese people believe that the cat brings money especially for merchants. The cat, which is called "Maneki-Neko", is a lucky item for them.
I will show you a crub, a shrimp, and a blowfish next time! You don't know what I mean? You will see!
